Men and women who want to dramatically improve the look of their skin - and can take a few days of down-time - will love the texture-refining and post-peeling glow from a Advanced Rejuvenating Concepts Rebright Jessner Peel.
A unique option for peeling the skin and the best way to brighten tone and soften texture, Jessner peels revive the skin from summer sun damage and improve advanced signs of aging skin.
What is a Jessner Peel?
Used by dermatologists for decades, this popular mid-depth chemical peel helps improve skin health by removing damaged skin cells. It's stronger than most superficial peels, is left on the skin for optimal absorption, and encourages visible peeling of damaged skin layers.
At Skin Rejuvenation Clinique, we use a Jesser formulation that includes a potent 14% Lactic Acid, 14% Salicylic Acid and 14% Resorcinol with an optional 2% Hydroquinone for skin lightening. Once applied, dried, and exfoliated over a 7 to 10 day period, the skin looks vibrant, supple, and has a youthful glow.
Who is a candidate for a Jessner Peel?
Jessner treatments are ideal for individuals who are concerned with advanced signs of aging, Including:
Who is not a candidate? Individuals with active/inflammatory acne, rosacea, capillary damage, and/or untreated melasma (hormonal hyperpigmentation) should opt for alternative peel treatments, like our fully customized Rejuvenation Facial.
Your Aesthetician will provide a consultation and skin analysis in order to pre-qualify you for before the treatment. This helps ensure you will receive the best benefits with minimal downtime.
Melanin-suppressing skin care at home is a must-have for optimal brightening results and must be used consistently for two weeks prior to your facial peel appointment. Discolorations can be a common side effect that are easily prevented with a melanin suppressing skin care system.
What can you expect?
During the peel, your aesthetician will cleanse and tone to prep your skin, and give you a small fan to use during the layering process. Drying each layer in-between applications helps with optimal peel penetration.
As each layer is applied, you may feel some mild tingling, burning, itching, and warmth in your skin as it begins to frost or whiten. Your aesthetician will monitor your skin for several minutes and send you home with post-peel instructions.
After the treatment, your skin will look flushed and rough, and you must keep your skin dry for at least 24 hours. Sweat, humidity or steam from showering, and washing your face will prematurely neutralize the peel and can affect the peel process and results.
It may take up to two weeks for your skin to recover completely. During the renewal period you may experience tingling, itching, redness, and tightening of the superficial layers of skin. Be sure to contact your Aesthetician regarding any questions about your renewal process.
STAGE 1: The skin will begin to feel tight, dry, darkened, and aged looking. This should happen within 48 hours.
STAGE 2: Dry skin will begin to crack and peel. At this point you may cleanse your skin with Melanin Cleanser twice daily. Apply Post Peel throughout the day to assist with the healing and peeling process, and minimize any mess from shedding skin. Do not use any other skin care products or cosmetics.
STAGE 3: At about the 5th day of peeling, your skin may look and feel different. Add Regenerating Cream to your morning and evening regimen. Apply Sun Protectant daily and continue to avoid excess sun exposure. Do not use any other skin care products or cosmetics.
STAGE 4: Characterized with minimal peeling, at this point you will need to schedule a follow-up appointment with your skin care provider. Your daily regimen should only consist of Melanin Cleanser, Regenerating Cream, Post Peel Balm and Sun Protectant.
After two weeks, and no signs of peeling, you may resume your regular regimen under the guidance of your Skin Rejuvenation Aesthetician. Use caution when applying exfoliating products and retinol products, they may trigger some sensitivity. Your skin will be sensitive to sun exposure and burn easily.
Always exercise healthy skin care habits. If you’re using exfoliating products [glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, scrubs, lightening serums, and retinol], wait several days before using these products and give your skin ample time to regenerate. This will help reduce any sensitivity or redness.
